In the early days, the company had only a few online stores. But that didn't stop it from branching out into offline stores. At present, the company has 500 retail stores spread across 66 cities, many of which are in tier II and tier III areas. Its spread between metro and non-metro locations ensured a balanced reach and a high level of customer satisfaction. Moreover, it is serving more than 4000 customers every day. And it hopes to serve 200,000 people in the coming years.
During the first funding round, the company raised $4 million from investors. Over the years, the company has attracted an ever-growing list of investors, including Temasek Holdings, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, SoftBank Vision Fund, Kedaara, T&R, Adveq, and others. By the end of its 10 rounds, Lenskart had raised $554.6 million. In the process, the company has made several investments.
Peyush Bansal, the founder of Lenskart, had previously worked at Microsoft and founded his own parent company, Valyoo Technologies. In 2007, he had started a startup called searchmycampus, which provided students with free accommodation, books, and part-time jobs. In 2010, he was invited to join a startup in New York, and he soon saw the potential. After graduating from McGill University, he launched his first business, searchmycampus, and quickly rose to success.
